Gutter repair

Gutter Repair in Palmdale, CA

A gutter that leaks, sags or pulls away is sending water exactly where it does damage: behind the fascia and down your walls.

We repair gutters as roofers. That means we fix the gutter, and we look at the board it hangs on and the roof edge above it, because a gutter that keeps failing is often a fascia or drip edge problem.

Gutters fail in a few predictable ways. Seams and end caps leak as the sealant ages in the sun. Hangers pull out of a fascia that has gone soft. Runs lose their slope and hold water. Downspouts come apart at the elbows or empty right against the foundation.

Each one has a straight fix: reseal or replace the seam, rehang the run with the right slope, replace a rotten fascia section behind it, reconnect the downspout and send it away from the house.

If the gutter is past repair, we tell you that and quote a replacement section, with the photos so you can see why.

Know the signs

Signs a Gutter Needs Repair

  1. Drips at the joints

Water dripping from seams or corners in the rain means failed sealant.

  2. A gap behind the gutter

If the gutter has pulled away from the house, water is running down behind it.

  3. Standing water

A gutter that holds water a day after the rain has lost its slope.

  4. Soft or stained fascia

The board behind the gutter rots from the back first. Paint bubbles are a warning.

  5. Downspout in pieces

A loose elbow dumps all the roof's water in one spot.

  6. Erosion under the eave

A trench in the dirt below the roof edge shows where water is pouring over.

Questions

Gutter Repair Questions

Can you repair just one section of gutter?

Yes. Most repairs are one run, one seam or one downspout.

Why does my gutter keep pulling away?

Usually because the fascia behind it is soft. New hangers in rotten wood don't hold. We check the board and replace the bad section.

Do you clean the gutters too?

Yes. Many repairs start with a cleaning, because a full gutter is what pulled it loose in the first place.
